Hi Hog,

Can a heterosexual male and female be friends?

Or is the attraction factor too likely?

Is it near impossible for an attractive person (attractive all around, a cool person who is also hot) to have a friend -- just a friend -- of the corresponding sex?

Because I love having male friends. I feel that they round out my life. But straight guys seem to have a short friendship lifespan with straight women, at least in my experience.

What is your take?

First, I have to mention that so many girls are naive and they think that all these straight guy-friends that orbit them have NO interest in their hoo-ha.

NOTE TO ATTRACTIVE WOMEN: Your hoo-ha is very powerful! It's has a gravitational pull that brings in dudes of all types! Asteroids who will fly into your life, Comets who will come around every so often to check in on your relationship status, and Moons who will watch you while you sleep. Creepy!

I know guys who have been close friends with a girl for YEARS, yes YEARS, in hopes that they would someday date.

It's emotionally dishonest but some guys think this is a way to win a girl's heart. And because they don't have the spine to ask her out.

Basically, for there to be an honest-to-goodness just-friends situation, BOTH of you would have to DISQUALIFY each other as a potential partner.

USUALLY the case is that ONE of you disqualifies the other while the other is secretly desiring a relationship or at least one hot sweaty round of the sticky-squishy-fishy-flop-dance.
