Yesterday while me and my new girlfriend talked, my old lover came across us and stared at us, and she looked at her best friend like she shouldn't be with me.

So what I suggest you do is put the entire situation in this light....

Tell your current girlfriend that you have no bad feelings towards your ex. The problem is that your ex can not handle knowing that you and her are in love and have something more special than they ever had.
