There are some great comedies on television and through the years I've especially loved the comedies that focus on relationships.

These TV comedies exhibit some really unhealthy themes.

These days TV shows make it seem like it's OK for a woman to berate her man. To call him stupid. To emotionally abuse him. Cut him down.

EXAMPLE OF A TYPICAL TV COMEDY COUPLE:

THE HUSBAND: Aw! I forgot our child's birthday again. He's only 5 years old, he won't remember anyway.

THE WIFE: He's SIX and what he will remember is the day his father began permanently speaking in a high-pitched voice.

THE HUSBAND: I'm sorry.

THE WIFE: You sure are! It's a good thing that I planned a neighborhood party, baked a cake, and did everything right.

THE HUSBAND: Gosh darn it, I'm so lucky to have you.

THE WIFE: You sure are. I'm slim and pretty while you're fat and stupid and lazy and inconsiderate and immature and undesirable.

THE HUSBAND: You sure are good with adjectives.

THE WIFE: Stop trying to kiss up, you're sleeping on the couch tonight because I require no affection from you, just your pathetic excuse for a paycheck.

You would never think it's ok for man to cut down his woman in this way.

Some women think that because men are supposed to be strong, we can take that. No.

We ARE strong -- to outsiders. But women, you want us to open our hearts to you while in a relationship. To be sensitive. That will NEVER happen for you if you PUNISH your man by emotionally beating him.

Many women have learned as little girls that their power lies not within their muscles but within their mind. And girls will destroy each other with evil words. Then they bring this to their husbands or boyfriends.

Don't do it.

You would never allow for your man to hit you. So don't hit him emotionally.

It can be funny in a TV show but as humans we sometimes...

- Think about your own life. You can probably remember harsh words coming from someone you loved. Those harsh words ring in your head forever. Do you think your man doesn’t feel hurt by YOUR words?

- A man's heart is like a flower... that's laying on the passenger's seat of a monster truck. Sure it seems protected by that big body, but it still needs sunshine and water and someone to care for it. Be kind to that delicate flower inside that oversized steel vehicle that's crushing junked cars.

- In real life, a woman who does not respect her man lives a miserable life.

So when you watch, be aware it's like junk food. It's fun to indulge every once in a while but here is what you absolutely must do to protect yourself...
