♥ Dating Advice: If a person cheated in a past relationship, is it likely they will cheat on you, too?

M in New York writes...

Hey HogWild,

I started dating this fun and interesting girl. Me, being very emotional and sensitive, I've trained myself and gotten rid of my neediness and clingyness but I do value monogamy.

Hog: A song!
Monogamy...
is like mahogany
because It gives a man... hard wood
hahha

She told me that during her "high point" she was dating three guys at once, although two were out of the country studying aboard. So the question is: if a girl has cheated before (both emotionally and physically), is it likely she would cheat again in a new relationship?

- M in New York

Her "high point"?! She was dating 3 guys at once at her "high point"? What kind of girl talks like that? By "high point" did she mean at the point she got high on drugs?

HER: Whoa, man. Dude. Like, I was like, dating these 3 guys at once... it was so cool. One guy would hook me up with the best marijuana, the other guy dealt me ecstasy, and the third guy gave me donkey-AIDS. That's not really a drug, it's kinda more like an infectious disease. But, whatevz.

Because most attractive girls learn by age 15 that it's not difficult to get a quantity of male attention through sex. The challenge for a woman is to get a QUALITY guy.

To answer your question, loyalty, as you think as you know it, does not exist.

<gasp!>

The concept of loyalty is like a leprechaun. It doesn’t really exist but we wish it did because life would be so much easier with rainbows leading to pots of gold.

There is an equation of anticipation of pleasure versus anticipation of pain.

She does a mental equation of how bad she THINKS she will feel IF she gets caught. And she considers the LIKELIHOOD that she will get caught. Or how bad would she feel knowing what she has done.

And how good does she think it would feel to cheat?

It's pretty easy to visualize...

If you have a girl who super loves you and she is alone on business and she is approached some random kinda-ok dude... why would she risk guilt or losing you for this experience?

If you have a girl who kinda-likes-you and then she's alone for a weekend and she meets this high-powered muscular celebrity... who sings her love songs... and he is famous for his skills in the bedroom... and he takes her for a ride in his elite sports car... to buy her ice cream... that is a more tempting situation for a girl. Because we all know that girls love ice cream.

There ARE humans who are more "loyal." These humans fall into 3 categories.

1 - They have no opportunity. No one else really wants them.

Let's call them... ugly people.

or

2 - They associate a great amount of pain with cheating AKA they could not bear the guilt.

or

3...

- Most people who cheat give themselves reasons to believe it is OK to go outside their relationship for sha-boinking. A person who is not very mature might have some grudge against you but isn't telling you. Now they use this grudge (whether it is legitimate or not) as an excuse to do the sticky-squishy-fishy-flop-dance with someone else.

- So is it LIKELY for a past cheater to cheat?

Yes, IF they have not matured. Yes, IF they have a lot of opportunities with attractive people while you are not around AND you have not overwhelmed them with current pleasure that could be lost by their cheating.

NO, if...
